FAQs

  • Volunteers must be at least 16 years old; anyone under 18 needs a signed parental consent form. We welcome families and youth groups under adult supervision.

  • Yes! After each shift, you’ll receive a quick survey for self-reporting your hours. We’ll compile these into a yearly summary you can download or share with schools, employers, or community groups.

  • We only tap our volunteer pool on an as-needed basis—never more often than we have events or partner requests. You’ll always receive a heads-up and have to confirm before you’re scheduled.

  • We rely on your support to keep our neighbourhood initiatives running smoothly. If you can’t make a scheduled shift, please let us know as soon as possible so we can adjust plans and ensure our partners have the help they need.

  • Most shifts run between 3–6 hours. You’ll see the exact duration when you’re invited to a role, and you can always let us know if that window doesn’t work.

  • While previous experience isn’t required, it’s definitely an asset—and it’ll help you hit the ground running. We provide all the training you need in our 30-minute orientation, so even first-timers feel confident.

  • Yes—orientation refreshes key info each time and ensures you’re up to date with partner-specific guidelines. If you’ve already done orientation recently, simply select “I’ve completed orientation” on the standby form.
